Will your house sell?

I've heard it repeated over and over "this is a buyer's market." and while this may be true - you can beat the odds. As you prepare your home for the Spring/Summer Market, the one question to ask is, "What is my home worth...Today!" As we have seen over the past few years, the price a buyer is willing to pay for any given home in any given area has varied sometimes even month to month. Like ...

Spring is on Its Way!Punxsutawney Phil Predicts

It is official...or so Punxsutawney Phil Predicts... Early this morning thousands of people gathered near Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to observe the festivities as the famous ground hog exits his home at Gobblers Knob. According to American Folklore, if a ground hog sees his shadow on the 2nd of February then we will experience six more weeks of winter. If not, then Spring is on its way. Well ...

Interest Rates

Lenders continue to offer low interest rates to home buyers. This past week I’ve seen rates remain below 5%. So the question I am asked most often is simply, “is this a good time to sell?”  Of course, the next question would be, “is this a good time to buy?”  With the market trend in home values declining (though not as in other states) one would have to consider ...

Merry Christmas

Just when I was beginning to think we might not see a White Christmas the unexpected happened , the accumulation of nearly 48 inches of snow.  Building snowmen, snow igloos, and snow angels, well it just seemed like the right thing to do to welcome winter. One of the most awe inspiring events of the season is especially more thrillling after a good snowfall and that is driving through ...

Temperatures Rise

Summer is here and the temperatures this week have hit record highs. All over the state we hear about the heat wave and how it is impacting our outdoor activities. Did you know at the same time we are experiencing record low interest rates for mortgages? This is a great time to buy or sell. Obtaining a low interest rate is like giving yourself the gift that keeps on giving and the ...

Still a Great Time

The First Time Home Buyer Tax Incentive has come and gone..and yet, it is still a great time to buy a new home. According to our local activity report, home sales rose 5% over April 2009 with a total of 334 units selling during the month of April 2010. The average cost of a three bedroom home in our area during this time was $128,000 and a four bedroom --$171,000. This is what Jim Gillespie has to ...

Tax Credit

Interest rates are creeping up and in five days the federal tax credit will expire. April 30th is the very last day to get a house under contract. But, we're not done - we will have to make sure the house closes before the end of June. This tax credit has encouraged a number of first time home buyers to get out an buy their first home. We have really been busy and I suspect we will continue to be busy ...

WOW! The Time is Now!

Interest rates are the lowest they've been since 1971. The time is RIGHT for the perfect home buying experience. Interest rates are low, homes are competitively priced, and there are financial incentives being. WOW! I can't speak to interest rates or whether home prices will continue to hold on the low side; however, the government sponsored incentives will go away after April ...

Senate Clears Homebuyer Credit

It may happen as soon as this week. The homebuyer tax credit will be extended for an additional seven months. There is also a provision for current home owners to qualify for up to $6,500 in tax credits should they purchase a new home before the April 2010 deadline. This is great news for the buyers who have been trying so hard to find just the right home hoping to meet the November 30th deadline. Now ...

TAX CREDIT EXTENDED

Wow, the pressure was on and everyone was working to capacity scheduling closings so first time home buyers could take advantage of the 10% ( $8000 max)  tax credit. It appears that the pressure may be temporarily lifted as the Senate considers extending the tax credit for first-time home buyers AND offer a reduced credit to some current ...

First time home buyers

The incentive for first time home buyers ( also extended to anyone who has not owned a home for at least three years) is soon coming to an end. There is a vast number of homes on the market at this time hoping that someone will fall in love and offer to purchase them. Looking through this inventory is sometimes overwhelming. Then, to get out in the field and actually preview these homes, well, ...
