April 2012 Real Estate NewsletterThe flowers are out and that recent rainfall helped green up the trees and grass - springtime in the Northeast is always beautiful!
So far the spring selling season is off to a strong start. Pending sales in the Capital Region are up 25% over March of last year and available inventory is down 6.6% from last year. These two trends coupled together have led to an increase in median ...

March 2012 Real estate NewsletterI know I usually open my newsletters with some comment on the current weather, but I don't even know where to begin this month. All I can say is that when mother nature decides to sync up with the calendar, it's going to be a rude awakening! But we'll certainly enjoy this ridiculous stretch of weather while it lasts.
The positive signs that I mentioned last month are continuing, ...

February 2012 Real Estate NewsletterRemember last month when I said "I'm sure the snow will come eventually?" Well, winter is finally making an appearance this year. We have about 8 inches of heavy, wet snow on the ground - perfect for snow balls and snow people. I was starting to think that we might just move directly to spring, but mother nature has other plans for us. Bring on the snow, I say...it's winter ...

January 2012 Real Estate NewsletterI hope all of you enjoyed the holidays this year and that 2012 is treating you well so far. If you like above average temperatures and below average snowfall, you're especially happy this winter. I am looking out of my office window at the bare brown lawns of my neighbors. This is quite a different scene from what I recall of January 2011! We bought the kids new sleds this year ...

December 2011 Real Estate NewsletterI hope all of you enjoyed the holidays this year - this really is a great time to get together with your loved ones and share some high quality time. There are only a few more days left before the start of 2012...and still no real snow in the forecast! (Cue cheers or boos, depending on your perspective!)
The local real estate market is wrapping up 2011 with another month of increased sales ...

November 2011 Real Estate NewsletterIt's hard to believe that 2011 is almost over - each passing year seems to go faster than the last. December is a big birthday month in my house - three out of four of us celebrate birthdays next month, including both of my kids. It certainly doesn't seem like 11 and 8 years ago that they were born! I suppose that's as good a reminder as any to try to slow down this holiday season ...

October 2011 Real Estate NewsletterThe leaves are falling and there's a definite chill in the air. There also seems to be a bit of a chill in the real estate market too, but I still believe it's an excellent time to buy a house! And I'm not alone, either. I read an excellent article in the Wall Street Journal last week noting that reduced prices and remarkably low mortgage rates make houses more affordable now than ...

September 2011 Real Estate NewsletterSurprise, surprise...it's raining again! I wonder what this winter's snowfall totals will be...
Well, let's get right to the statistics. The local real estate market has been showing some signs of improvement lately. Pending sales are up and we're finally starting to cut into some of the excess inventory that's been sitting on the market. Once again, well priced homes ...

June 2011 Real Estate NewsletterYesterday (June 21st) marked the summer solstice, when we experience the most daylight hours of any other day of the year. Coincidentally, yesterday was also the last day of school for my local district. The heat and sun of yesterday have given way to cooler temps and rain today so my kids are going a bit stir crazy. Hopefully the weather will improve so I can get them outside soon. ...

July 2011 Real Estate NewsletterI am typing this newsletter with my office window open - the first time I've had that window open in a long time! I'm thankful for central A/C, but it sure is nice to turn it off occasionally! I suppose it's only a matter of time before we start complaining about the cold, instead of the heat. Oh well.
The local real estate market continues to slog along at a relatively slow ...

December 2010 Real Estate NewsletterAs we approach the end of 2010, I am thankful for a good year, personally and professionally. There were certainly ups and downs, but, overall a fine year. I hope all of you can say the same! Hopefully we will all find some quiet time in these remaining days to ponder the good and bad from 2010 and plan for an even better 2011.
The local real estate market is holding relatively ...

November Real Estate NewsletterI hope you all enjoyed Halloween - nice to have a (mostly) rain free event this year. With election day behind us, Thanksgiving is right around the corner! I know I have a lot for which to be thankful and I hope you do too.
People often ask me, "How's the real estate market?" My short answer these days is, "It depends." If you are a first time home buyer, this is a ...
